Philippines (LTO) Driver's License Renewal at the Malls (Updated)

When I learned that renewal for a 2 yrs expired driver's license would require the applicant to go through the whole process of taking the exams again, I wasted no time and visited the nearest LTO satellite office at Tutuban Center Mall to renew my driver's license. It's nearing its 2 yrs expiry mark, and even if I haven't been driving for quite a long time, I know I will have to do so sooner than later. There's an LTO Tayuman office just within walking distance from my place but the chaos and waiting time involved in their renewal process are the reasons I won't be setting foot in any LTO main offices again.
Last August 27, 2017, President Duterte rolled out the increase of the validity of Driver's License from 3yrs to 5yrs. They started with Metro Manila and gradually expanded nationwide in October.
Applying at the LTO satellite offices in malls offer more convenience and less waiting time. It only took me less than an hour to go through the whole process of renewal.
Addendum: In a Memorandum Circular No. 2018-2157, beginning January 7, 2019, all LTO licensing offices are required to accept “only electronically transmitted Medical Examination Certificates to the LTO IT Systems.” This applies to both student permit applications and driver’s/conductor’s license applications and renewals. Only registered medical clinics/physicians are allowed in the LTO IT System. All physicians intending to issue medical certificates should register at their respective regional LTO offices.

Register Online To Speed Up The Process
Yes, aside from the five years validity, the current administration made online registration possible to speed up the application process.
How it works:
- Visit the website www.lto.net.ph and log in
- Choose from the three options, one of which is Driver's License Renewal
- Fill out your license information
- Pick your LTO branch
- Choose the date and time of your appointment
- A pop-up message will appear confirming your appointment
- A confirmation email will be sent to you which you need to confirm within 3 days after your booking. Failure to confirm means the appointment is not valid.
- The email will also list down the documents you should bring with you during your appointment.
- Duly accomplished application form
- Current/Expired License Card
- Medical Certificate issued by an LTO licensed physician
- A government-issued ID
- A printed copy of your appointment slip
- Show up on your chosen branch at the date and time of your appointment carrying all the documents required.
- Give the documents to the LTO evaluator
- Each window is marked properly with instructions on how to proceed; from biometrics taking, photo-taking, payment of fees and the license card release.
- Wait for 30 to 60 minutes for your card and you're done.

I paid a total of 752.63 pesos for the renewal of my driver's license. Breakdown of fees is as follows.License Fee: Php 585.00

E pano kung nawala na ang OR ng Driver's license? Sus naman, 2 years ang validity ng Driver's license, expect ng gobyerno resibo dadalhin mo, ano ba yun?!!! pano kung di ka nag renew agad e 3 to 4 years na expect nila tatago mo. Dapat nag paskil sila dati nung una nila inisyu na itago ang OR ng driver's license!!!hahay palpak talaga ang gobyerno kahit kelan!

just tell them you lost your OR and they will allow it and I suggest not to wait for more than 2 years before renewing or you'll have to take the written and practical examinations again.

ReplyDeleteTook me only 45 minutes. Yup, mandatory drug testing is no longer required so most likely you're waiting time will be reduced to 20 to 30 minutes or depending on the volume of people applying for a renewal.

ReplyDeleteI am not sure, there's none yet from LTO's site. If you're from Paranaque, the nearest would be Metro Point Mall in Pasay, that's the one in edsa, connecting to LRT1 and MRT.

Expired na sya after your birthday. So from day 1 to 1 year of delay, you have to pay a penalty of 75 pesos.

DeleteI can no longer remember the details of the written exam,it has been decades since I took mine but do brush up on road signs, driving do's and donts, etc.
Practical exam involves driving the vehicle.

ReplyDeleteI think they will issue a card but the release will probably take a week or more unlike before that you'll get it after 30 mins. Maybe until they can find a new IT partner, but as to when I have no idea.

ReplyDeleteThanks! There are penalty fees for expired license so check how many days your license is expired. Check the fees I mentioned above and add it up. Don't include the fee for drug test coz its no longer required.

Oh, if it's more than 2 yrs expired, you've got to take the written and practical exams again and its done at the main LTO offices and not the ones at the malls.

ReplyDeleteYes, you need to go to one of the branches of LTO (not the ones at the malls)and apply for a PRO license. You will have to take the written and practical exams again.

Yes, pwede ka na mag renew as early as now. Medical exam might just be around 100 pesos or less.

You have to visit a LTO branch office and apply for a Phil license as new application. Don't go the malls because they only process renewals.

ReplyDeleteThat's already 7 yrs ago. You need to reapply a new license not renew and go to your nearest LTO branch office and not the ones on the malls who only process renewals.

hi ms. shie, ask lang po ako ilang month or year ang validity ng non-pro license.. kakakuha k lang kz nung june 2014 ng non pro taz may nakalagay sya na valid until october 2014 lang..

FYI - WALA NA PONG LTO SATELLITE OFFICE SA SM MEGA MALL AT ROBINSONS MANILA...

Deletetanong ko lang mam. kasi nakuwa ng police ang driver license ko at naticketan po ito kasu nawala po ang ticket at di ko kilala ang police.. anu po ba dapat ko gawin para mabawi uli ang driver licence ko. makukuwa pa po ba ang driver license ko....

ReplyDeleteAsk ko lang po... Do you happen to know after ilang years ang expiration ng DL na nirerelease ngayong 2014? I saw my friend's DL and yung sa kanya after 3 years pa mag-eexpire while yung sa akin 2 years lang. Ba't po kaya ganun?

DeleteHi ate shie, ngrenew po ako ng d.l ko, o.r lng ung bngay sakin dhl sira daw ung printer ng lto d2 samin..at pnababalik ako aftr 3months pra kunin ung card..nkalipas na ang 3 months ngaun, pero naiwala ko ung o.r..anu po dapat gawin pra mkuha ko ung card naun nwala ung o.r ..please advice..

I'm really not sure pero baka 1 week delay wala pang penalty. But it's better to call them up to be sure.

ReplyDeleteYour ID is necessary if you are driving so I suggest you go to the nearest LTO Branch to have it replaced. I think they'll require affidavit of loss. It's better to inquire with them.

DeleteHi Shie, nabasa ko sa tsikot.com na pwede sa Tayuman branch magpaayos ng fake date of birth o ang tinatawag na underage penalty na Php5000 para maitama ang date of birth. Pwede ba ito sa Tayuman branch or sa lto east avenue lang pwede yun. Thanks.

Drivers License ID lang naman ang kailangan mong isurrender at mag fill out ka lang ng forms doon. Just remember some vital infos you will need to fill out the forms like your TIN No. etc

ReplyDeleteWay back year 2000 ng apply ako license in Cagayan de Oro my age at that time is 16 years old. Na process po nila tpos binagyan ako temporary license. While waiting for license pinadalhan po ako ng sulat ng LTO manila na underage po daw ako at surrender ko na ang license. Sinurender ko po sa CDO. Ngyun kukuha ako lincese hindi ako makakuha kasi may record po ako. Ano gagawin ko
I think renewal ang application mo dapat and not new application pero dapat sa LTO branches ka mag apply hindi sa mall satellite offices.

Nawala ko po ito for about 6 months ago na pati resibo, ngayon po ay gusto ko sanang makakuha ng replacement at the same time ay i upgrade na classification from non-pro ay maging professional license na po dahil balak ko pong maging grab driver

ReplyDeleteI think the fee now is 910 pesos for those more than 2 yrs plus you need to retake both the written and the practical exam
